(AmericanPoliticalDaily.Com)- Bernie Sanders is doing what most Democrats are refusing to do and considering the possibility that the allegations made against presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden are true. During an MSNBC interview that aired on Saturday, socialist Senator Sanders explained how he believes the media must conduct a “thorough investigation” of the allegations made against Biden, and that we should “see where that leads.”
Sanders’ tone is remarkably different to Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who regularly dismisses the accusation and snaps at journalists who ask her questions about it.
Staunch Sanders supporter, congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez even recently come out and suggested that she believes “something happened” and that the media must listen to Tara Reade.
In case you missed it, Tara Reade is a former Senate staffer who alleges that then-Senator Biden sexually assaulted her in a corridor, penetrating her with his fingers without her consent. Reade’s story has been backed up by friends and neighbors who say she told them the same story in the 1990s.
“We’re in a situation where we understand that, for decades, women were not able to come forward,” Sanders told MSNBC. “They were penalized, punished when they came forward to make their case, and this woman has every right in the world to make her case. The media must do a thorough investigation,” he added.
“Joe Biden has been very firm in saying it never happened. That’s Joe’s point of view. So, of course, Joe is going to stay in the race. There will be an investigation that goes on, and we will see where that leads.”
Sanders officially announced that he would drop out of the presidential race in early April, though these new revelations could potentially put him back on track to winning the nomination. Several key primaries have still yet to be held, and if an investigation finds that the allegations hold weight, and if the Democrats decide they can no longer support Biden, there’s a possibility that Sanders could restart his campaign and pick up delegates in the coming primary contests.
With just weeks left to go, however, it seems more likely that Biden will continue covering himself and denying the allegations. And that seems to be enough for much of the Democratic establishment.
