(AmericanPoliticalDaily.com) – Former Vice President Joe Biden faces criticism of his mental capacity after he committed a series of very serious gaffes on live television and in front of live audiences. The Democratic presidential hopeful has repeatedly referred to former British Prime Minister Theresa May as “Margaret Thatcher,” he has forgotten the names of the towns and cities he was visiting, and he even claimed he was running for U.S. Senate.
He is running for president.
Perhaps the most egregious fake claim made by Biden throughout the campaign was that some 150 million Americans have been killed by gun violence. The obviously untrue claim was made during a presidential debate, and not only did he not realize he made the mistake, nobody else pulled him up on it either.
President Donald Trump wasn’t so quiet, though. During a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, the president questioned Biden’s ability to lead the country and his mental ability.
Biden countered the claims by appearing in an interview with Chris Wallace of Fox News. Wallace acknowledged the series of gaffes throughout Biden’s campaign right at the beginning of the interview, stating:
“Mr. Vice President, I don’t especially like asking you about this but it is an issue in the campaign, and that has been your sometimes shaky performance on the campaign trail.”
Wallace, 72 years old himself, was fully aware that Biden’s gaffes are likely a result of his age, or may even be a sign of a medical problem. The Fox News anchor repeated some of the former vice president’s mistakes, to which Biden responded, “I’m not gonna try to, you know, assign names and insults to the stable genius.”
“This is a guy who doesn’t know what he’s doing, he doesn’t know how to run the country, he is making us more unsafe the way he’s responding to the coronavirus. He’s done virtually nothing well that I can see, and so I can hardly wait to debate him on stage. I want people to see me standing next to him and him standing next to me. We’ll see who’s sleepy.”
Biden appeared happy with his response, and when Chris Wallace signed off, Biden called him Chuck.
“All right, Chuck, thank you very much,” he said, to which Wallace responded, “All right, it’s Chris, but anyway.”
