(Americanpoliticaldaily.com) – The former Republican Representative for South Carolina, Trey Gowdy, is a legend. He’s as outspoken as President Donald Trump, and his most recent comments on Fox News are bound to please Republican voters (or anyone unhappy with the way the FBI treated the president!).
During a conversation with Fox News host Martha MacCallum, Gowdy discussed various FBI officials who have been accused of treating the president unfairly. During the interview, he explained how he believed the president was justified in his contempt and anger toward some of the most high-ranking officials in the FBI.
Gowdy’s comments came after the president fired off multiple shots against the former FBI director, James Comey, in a speech given after his acquittal. The president suggests that had he not fired James Comey, who he described as a disaster, it was possible that Trump “wouldn’t even be standing here right now.”
“If I didn’t fire James Comey, we would have never found this stuff…When I fired that sleazebag, all Hell broke out.”
MacCallum showed the clip to Gowdy in the Fox News segments, explaining, “Very strong words. But when you look at the Mueller report and the FISA process, you can understand where it’s coming from.”
Gowdy agreed with the statement, saying, “Yeah, Peter Strzok, the lead case agent on this Russia probe, was talking about impeaching Donald Trump before Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler were.”
He continued, “Let that sink in. The lead agent for the FBI mentioned impeaching Trump before Schiff and Nadler did.”
Gowdy further describes how the FBI’s general behavior was inappropriate and biased, and that the so-called “defensive briefing” was actually just an interview because they had already decided that the president was guilty of, not a crime, but a misdemeanour or impropriety.
He said, “You have James Comey who thinks impeachment is too good for him. You have John Brennan that thinks he should be in the dust pan of history. You have Andy McCabe, who after Comey was fired, launched another investigation into Trump…Martha, if I were Donald Trump, I would think the FBI was out to get me, too.”
