Trump Says He WON’T Shut Down County Under Second Wave of Virus

(AmericanPoliticalDaily.com)- President Donald Trump committed on Thursday not to shut down the country again if there is a second wave of the Chinese coronavirus. Speaking during a tour of the Ford factory in Michigan, President Trump promised not to shut down the economy and cause any further damage even if the virus begins to spread again.

At the same time, the president committed to working to protect people from the virus while getting people back to work.

“We are going to put out the fires,” he said. “We’re not going to close the country. We can put out the fires. Whether it is an ember or a flame, we are going to put it out. But we are not closing our country.”

The message was substantially different to what Democratic politicians are saying, including Governor Gavin Newsom of California. Residents of his state have protested his decision to extend lockdown measures for three more months and telling the media that he is scared of a third and fourth wave of the virus.

President Trump’s speech at the Ford factory told the American people that the country will continue reopening and, instead of forcing people to stay at home, will encourage people to take measures to reduce the spread of the virus while going about their daily lives and earning money.

“We did the right thing, but now it is time to open it up,” Trump added. “A never-ending lockdown would invite a public health calamity. To protect the health of our people, we must have a functioning economy.”

President Trump can rest assured that now, after several months, the United States is as prepared as it can be for a second wave. Military hospital ships, hundreds of thousands of ventilators, and factories across the country producing PPE mean that the United States is ready if there is a surge in the virus.

“You have a lot of, unfortunately in this case, Democrat governors, I think they think it’s great politics to keep it closed, but what they are doing, they’re hurting themselves,” the president added. “I don’t think it is good politics…they’re hurting themselves, they’re hurting their state, and it’s not good. You’ll break the country if you don’t.”
